How to Build Your First Form in monday.com with FormFlow

Published on April 24, 2026

If you use monday.com to manage projects, leads, or requests, you have probably run into this problem: you need to collect information from people who do not have access to your boards. Maybe it is a client submitting a support ticket, a candidate filling out an application, or a vendor providing details for onboarding.

FormFlow solves this by letting you build forms that connect directly to your monday.com boards โ€” no coding, no third-party integrations, no data copy-pasting. Here is how to get started.

Quick answer

  • Create an insert form for new intake; use update forms when each item needs its own editable link.
  • Map fields to monday.com columns, publish, then validate the live experience with a test link.
  • Add security (passwords, reCAPTCHA/Turnstile, restrictions) only when your workflow requires it.

What You Need Before You Start

  • A monday.com account with at least one board
  • FormFlow installed from the monday.com marketplaceย
  • Columns already set up on your board (text, email, status, etc.)

Step 1: Install FormFlow

Head to the monday.com marketplace and search for FormFlow, or click the install button below:

Add to monday.com

Once installed, FormFlow appears as a view you can add to any board.

Step 2: Add FormFlow to Your Board

  1. Open the board where you want to collect form submissions
  2. Click the + button to add a new view
  3. Search for FormFlow and select it
  4. Choose Insert Form when prompted โ€” this creates new items in your board when someone submits the form

Step 3: Build Your Form with Drag-and-Drop

FormFlow opens a three-panel editor:

  • Left Panel โ€” Manage form pages. Start with one page and add more if needed.
  • Center Panel โ€” Your form preview. Drag fields here to build your form and see changes in real time.
  • Right Panel โ€” The field library. Every column on your board appears here as a draggable field, plus extra fields like headings, images, and digital signatures.

To add a field, simply drag it from the right panel into the center. Each field automatically maps to the corresponding monday.com column.

Step 4: Configure Your Fields

Click any field in the center panel to configure it:

  • Label โ€” The text the user sees (e.g., โ€œYour Email Addressโ€)
  • Description โ€” Helper text below the field
  • Required โ€” Whether the field must be filled before submission
  • Placeholder โ€” Example text inside the field

You can reorder fields by dragging them up or down within the form.

Step 5: Customize the Form Appearance

Before sharing your form, you might want to adjust the look:

  • Form Title & Description โ€” Set a clear title so users know what the form is for
  • Submit Button Text โ€” Change โ€œSubmitโ€ to something like โ€œSend Requestโ€ or โ€œApply Nowโ€
  • Thank You Message โ€” Customize what users see after they submit

Step 6: Share Your Form

Once your form is ready, click the Share button to get the form link. You can:

  • Copy the direct link and send it via email or chat
  • Embed it in a webpage
  • Share it on social media

Anyone with the link can fill out the form โ€” no monday.com account required.

Step 7: Watch Submissions Roll In

Every time someone submits your form, a new item is automatically created on your monday.com board with all the field values mapped to the correct columns. No manual data entry. No import/export.

What to Do Next

Now that you have your first form running, here are some things to explore:

  • Add security โ€” Protect your form with passwords, reCAPTCHA/Turnstile, or geographic restrictions
  • Multi-page forms โ€” Break long forms into pages with conditional logic
  • Update forms โ€” Let people edit existing items on your board
  • Automations โ€” Auto-generate form links and passwords with monday.com automations

Wrapping Up

Building a form in monday.com with FormFlow takes just a few minutes. Install the app, add it as a view, drag your fields in, and share the link. Your board starts receiving structured data immediately โ€” no code, no hassle.
